Authorities and rescue teams respond after a rare sea turtle was found stranded along Jomtien Beach in Pattaya during the early morning hours.

PATTAYA, Thailand – A rare sea turtle was discovered stranded on Jomtien Beach in the early hours of June 24, prompting a swift multi-agency rescue operation before the animal was transferred to specialist care.  At approximately 4:20 a.m., Jomtien municipal officers, together with land and sea disaster relief teams, received a report from a member of the public who was exercising and visiting the beach near the Jomtien Water Sports Center in Pattaya. The witness alerted authorities after spotting a sea turtle stranded along the shoreline.

Rescue teams were immediately dispatched and found the turtle still alive but weak and in an exhausted condition. Officials quickly provided assistance and carefully moved the animal to a nearby safe marine rescue area to prevent further harm while arrangements were made for specialist care. Authorities later coordinated with the Marine Endangered Species Stranding Network (MESSt), which took over the case. The team collected the sea turtle from the Jomtien area and transported it for detailed health examination and medical evaluation.

Officials said the operation reflects close cooperation between local authorities, rescue volunteers, and marine conservation specialists aimed at protecting endangered marine life and increasing the chances of recovery and eventual release back into the wild. Authorities also reminded the public that if any stranded or endangered marine animals are found, they should not be moved independently, but instead reported immediately to relevant agencies for proper handling.

A sea turtle is transferred to specialists at the Marine Endangered Species Stranding Network center for urgent medical assessment and care.
