PATTAYA, Thailand – Thailand’s Meteorological Department has reported continued cool to cold conditions across the upper parts of the country, with morning fog in several areas, while Pattaya and the eastern region experience cooler mornings and generally dry weather.
According to the forecast, upper Thailand remains under the influence of a high-pressure system and upper-level northwesterly winds, bringing cool to cold weather to the North and Northeast. The Central Plains, including Bangkok, as well as the East — covering Pattaya and Chonburi — and the upper South are seeing cooler temperatures in the morning.

Authorities warned that fog, including dense fog in some areas of the North and Central regions, may reduce visibility, urging motorists to exercise caution. Dry conditions also increase the risk of fires, and residents are advised to take care of their health during the cooler weather.
In Pattaya and surrounding eastern provinces, conditions remain stable with cool mornings and little rainfall. However, air quality remains a concern, as dust and haze accumulation across upper Thailand is rated at moderate to relatively high levels due to poor air circulation.
In the South, the weakened northeast monsoon has resulted in limited rainfall, particularly in the lower southern region. Isolated thunderstorms remain possible, while waves in the lower Gulf of Thailand are expected to reach 1–2 meters, rising to around 2 meters in stormy areas. Mariners in both the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea have been advised to navigate with caution and avoid storm-affected zones.
Looking ahead, the Meteorological Department said a new, moderately strong to strong cold air mass from China will move into upper Thailand between Jan 2 and 6. This is expected to bring stronger winds and a further drop in temperatures, with cold to very cold conditions forecast for the North and Northeast.
Pattaya, Bangkok, the eastern region, and the upper South will continue to see cooler mornings during this period.
