PATTAYA, Thailand – A Chinese tourist accused of violently assaulting a transgender woman inside a Pattaya hotel room fled Thailand shortly after the incident, leaving the victim with severe facial injuries requiring nearly 30 stitches. The case first gained attention after Facebook user “bell apisara” posted video clips and messages claiming her transgender friend had been brutally attacked by a Chinese man inside a hotel in South Pattaya. According to the post, the victim was struck in the face with a broken glass and allegedly prevented from leaving the room until friends intervened. Reporters later visited the hotel, where staff said the injured victim ran downstairs from a third-floor room in the early morning covered in blood while crying out that “the Chinese man refused to pay me.”
The suspect was identified only as Mr. Chen, 22, a Chinese national who had checked into the hotel on May 23. Hotel staff said he fled immediately after the attack and never returned to reclaim his 500-baht deposit. The hotel plans to file a complaint for property damage. Police believe the suspect may have hired a sex worker but became enraged after discovering the victim was transgender, leading to the violent assault. The victim, identified as 25-year-old Thanawat, has already filed a police report with Pattaya City Police Station. Investigators later confirmed the suspect departed Thailand for Chongqing, China, through Suvarnabhumi Airport at approximately 11:20 a.m. on May 25.
