PATTAYA, Thailand – Car and motorcycle wash businesses across Pattaya and Nongprue have seen a sharp rise in customers following the Songkran festival, as residents and tourists seek to clean vehicles covered in powder, mud, and water stains after days of celebrations.
Operators said demand has surged significantly since the end of the April 12–19 holiday period, with some businesses reporting revenues more than tripling compared with normal periods.
Many customers brought in both cars and motorcycles immediately after Wan Lai celebrations ended, leading some operators to extend working hours and hire temporary freelance workers to keep up with demand.
Business owners said vehicles often arrived heavily stained from water fights, talcum powder, mud, and road grime, requiring extra cleaning time and boosting average spending per customer.
The spike in demand has turned vehicle washing into one of the strongest-performing post-Songkran businesses in the Pattaya area, especially in Nongprue and Banglamung districts.
