Banglamung authorities came to the rescue of a poor woman trying to care for a senile husband and 4-year-old granddaughter.

District Chief Amnart Charoensri and officials from the Banglamung Red Cross visited Boonlert Wongson, 59, at her Thepprasit Soi 5 home Nov. 14.

Boonlert’s husband is afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease, and young Kanklao Nortiensin was abandoned by her mother. She must provide for all three with minimal income.

The officials gave Boonlert a care package of basic necessities and 7,000 baht from the Red Cross and volunteers. They also gave everyone a medical checkup.

Amnart said the district would work to ensure Kanklao gets an education and that everyone has access to health care. He also promised to negotiate lower rent from the landlord.
