BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has presented Thailand as a regional base for investment and future industries, promoting the country’s industrial capabilities, skilled workforce, and access to ASEAN markets. Delivering a keynote address at The Bangkok Business Summit 2026: Reinvent Thailand, Resilient ASEAN in Bangkok on Sep 3, the premier identified advanced manufacturing, sustainable tourism and health, digital services, agribusiness, and the creative economy as five areas with high-growth potential.
The prime minister detailed four global changes shaping Thailand’s economic strategy: geopolitics, technology, climate change, and an aging population. The government plans to deepen international economic ties, expand domestic expertise in artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, attract climate finance for clean energy and resilient infrastructure, and develop a longevity economy spanning healthcare, wellness, tourism, and technology.
Thailand is seeking investment that takes advantage of its established industrial clusters, domestic suppliers, logistics, and digital networks while creating deeper links with the local economy. Opportunities include connecting advanced manufacturing with digital technology, agriculture with biotechnology and future food, healthcare with tourism, and clean energy with automotive production, electronics, and data infrastructure. Thailand’s location also provides businesses with access to ASEAN markets and regional supply chains.
The government is now reviewing more than 7,000 regulations that may impose unnecessary burdens on businesses and the public, while continuing the country’s OECD accession process. Investment policies will also encourage the development of domestic suppliers, workforce skills, SMEs, and locally retained technological expertise, supporting Thailand’s goal of becoming a long-term partner for companies developing the industries of the future.
