Putchong Janjumrat, the 28-year-old son of the warehouse owner, blamed his father for smuggling the diapers in through Laem Chabang Port to sell online. Putchong said he was unaware the diapers were not Food and Drug Administration-approved.

Consumer Protection Department officials said the FDA had received many complaints about the diapers purchased online, saying they were poor quality and leaked.

The owner was charged with importing medical supplies with no registration or permission.
