Waiting means wait

Re: What does this street sign mean? (PM Mailbag Friday, 016 January 2015) – This ambiguous sign had me confused at first, because it contains a very common English error among Thai people who use the word “waiting” when they should use the word “wait”. If you change the third word to “wait” the sign makes perfect sense. The Thai version, not surprisingly, is perfectly correct and loosely translated means “If you’re turning left, wait for the traffic light.
