It’s about principle

Re: Baht bus prices rise at eastern bus station (PM Mailbag Friday, 26 June 2015) – Another word you may use is principle. It’s nothing to do with being thrifty or mean. It’s knowing you are being forced to use their service. Walk over the road for a cheaper ride? Not likely. A baht bus is reluctant to pick you up for fear of reprisal from this mob. Walk down the road and you will be OK.

These are the same ones who sit outside venues & supermarkets, charging inflated prices. A songthaew may have to travel several miles to collect what this mob collects for a straight run of a few kilos (hardly enough to warm the motor).

The M/bike taxis didn’t take long to jump on the gravy train. Sometimes we just have to take it.
