MC Judith Edmonds presents David Cavanagh with the PCEC’s Certificate of Appreciation for his interesting and informative presentation.

Beginning on a significantly energetic note, David Cavanagh made his audience feel like they were in a high energy sales emporium. Raising his left hand often and encouraging continual response from the audience initially overwhelmed the usually more sedate and orderly Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) meeting style. David was the guest speaker at the PCEC’s Sunday, April 8 meeting.

David’s dynamic presentation style included a few wake up calls to the audience with a few “Is anyone there” or “did you guys wake up yet.” David’s topic was “How to protect your reputation online.” He has over 30 years of experience in sales, marketing and coaching, both online and offline in 17 countries for himself and his clients. David currently makes his home in Pattaya but spends much of his time on his business, which is outside of Thailand. David’s background and current status are impressive as he’s appeared numerous times on TV with his latest appearances being in Dubai at the World Trade Centre, Burj Al Arab, Google Dubai, and on live TV on CNBC Arabia (November 2016) from Dubai Internet City.

David was born in Sydney, Australia to parents with very little money. But, he took his income from $250 a week in 2003 to over $1,000,000 a year in less than 3 years with his simple, step by step “A to Z” online and offline marketing system. Also, as a former DJ, David increased his income from $7,800 to $247,000 in 51 days when he managed to secure 32 clubs to employ him and his team of disc jockeys when he started the Disc Jockey Booking Centre in Sydney, Australia.

David challenged PCEC members to question whether they were ‘safe online’ or what kind of reputation was being displayed in this ‘ready for the taking’ internet world in which we find ourselves like it or not. His opening illustration was for you to imagine looking at the front page of a newspaper today and someone printed a negative article about you saying “do not ever trust this person” and imagine this article never ever got removed. Well, he said, that’s called the Internet and Search Engines and that’s your online reputation they’re destroying.

But, who on earth he asked would want to do this to you? The answer could be an angry ex-employee, an ex-spouse, a jealous competitor, etc. He emphasized you need to be in control of your online reputation because nowadays we’re all being “googled” by everyone we meet. You need to know your negative links, reviews, articles, videos, and more. You need to know your strategy for fast improvement.

Although most of his information on how to do this focused on reputation as it related to a business model, none the less there were aspects of his talk that were quite relevant to those of us that are retired. Two aspects were quite important. 1. Finding out what the internet would reveal about you by taking a Google search of yourself along with words like scam, rip off or other complaint wordings. And 2. Building a positive on-line presence by maximizing positive feedbacks, comments and successful joint venture relationships.

If your plan is to start an online business, one’s goal should be to do so with integrity, honesty and 5-star services. Optimize the good stuff, get a professional email account/website, have a customer service operation, a professional domain name and obtain a ‘whois’ privacy account. If you do not subscribe to the privacy account, then anyone using “whois” and your domain name will see the personal information of the registrant, i.e., name, address, etc. Paying a little extra, a “whois” inquiry will reveal only contact information for your domain host, which keeps your personal information private. Try and avoid a bad service reputation by resolving problems quickly and professionally and always highlight the positive aspects of the business.

David ended his talk with questions from the group and the sincere promise to help anyone needing his advice in any business forum. He underlined this offer by giving out his personal contact information and where you could obtain the slides he used in his presentation, which is  https://www.reputationmarketingservice.com/. MC Judith Edmonds then brought everyone up to date on current events. This was followed by the “Open Forum” portion of the meeting, where questions are asked and answered and comments made about expat living in Thailand. For more information on the Club and their activities, visit www.pcec.club.
