PATTAYA, Thailand – Thai and international media gathered at Laem Chabang on Wednesday to cover the arrival of the USS Abraham Lincoln, one of the US Navy’s largest aircraft carriers, ahead of a port visit expected to send around 5,000 US personnel into Pattaya. The nuclear-powered USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, entered Laem Chabang waters and berthed at C0 terminal operated by Laem Chabang International Ro-Ro Terminal Co., Ltd.
The carrier’s arrival attracted significant media attention, with journalists closely following its approach to the port and the subsequent preparations for thousands of sailors to go ashore.
Images of the massive warship entering Laem Chabang and the movement of personnel preparing to leave the vessel were closely watched by both Thai and foreign media, highlighting the importance of the visit to Thailand and Pattaya. Around 5,000 US Navy personnel are scheduled to disembark in stages before travelling to Pattaya, where they are expected to spend time at hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues and other tourism businesses.
Pattaya City and local authorities have prepared for the influx, while tourism operators are anticipating increased activity during the visit. The arrival has also prompted close coordination among port authorities, the Navy, security agencies and local administration to facilitate the movement of personnel and maintain security during the visit. The USS Abraham Lincoln’s arrival marks the beginning of the highly anticipated shore visit, with attention now shifting to the movement of thousands of US personnel from Laem Chabang into Pattaya.
