Pattaya is considering hooking up with a private cannabis company to help residents grow marijuana, strictly for medical purposes, of course.
No mention of smoking weed recreationally was made at the Aug. 26 meeting chaired by Deputy Mayor Wuthisak Rermkijakarn. But a partnership with Thai CBD Co. would allow residents to grow cannabis for any purpose.

Thai CBD is a leading pioneer in cannabis growing for medical purposes in Thailand. Company representatives said their proposal would generate income for local residents, especially poor people.
Pattaya officials have agreed, in concept, to the deal, although no contract was signed.

The company would educate the public on proper growing methods and find sales opportunities for cannabis to be sold as ingredients in food, cosmetics, and medicine only.
Growers also would be taught about the few laws and regulations on the books governing cannabis cultivation, as well as legislation pending before parliament.
