CHONBURI, Thailand – Motorists heading towards Pattaya are being advised to avoid Sukhumvit Road near Nong Mon Market in Saen Suk after heavy rain throughout the night left both sides of the road flooded. Saen Suk Municipality reported the flooding on September 26, with water covering both traffic directions around the Nong Mon Market area.
Authorities are asking motorists and other road users to take extra care and avoid the section if their journey does not require them to pass through the area. The flooding followed hours of heavy overnight rain, with water accumulating on both sides of the busy Sukhumvit route.
Residents affected by flooding can also request sandbags from the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Division of Saen Suk Municipality. Those requesting sandbags are required to present their identification card. Motorists travelling between Chonburi and Pattaya are advised to check road conditions before setting out and allow additional travel time if they need to use alternative routes.
