SET President Asadej Kongsiri says foreign funds are continuing to flow into Thailand, supported by investment incentives, government measures and renewed investor confidence.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) remains confident that foreign investment flows will continue entering Thailand, supported by investment promotion measures, the government’s economic stimulus policies, and efforts to rebuild global investor confidence.

SET President Asadej Kongsiri said foreign fund flows have shown positive momentum, with nearly 60 billion baht entering the market following the election, despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

He said Thailand’s fundamentals remain attractive to investors, particularly with increased applications for investment incentives from the Board of Investment (BOI) through the Fast Pass scheme, along with government measures aimed at encouraging more private-sector investment.

Asadej noted that Thailand’s investment ratio, which once reached around 40% of GDP during periods of strong economic growth two to three decades ago, has fallen to around 15-20% in recent years. If government policies succeed in accelerating infrastructure investment, he said confidence among private investors could gradually return.

He added that while global conflicts and oil price movements have caused some temporary capital outflows, funds have returned to Thai markets when neighboring countries faced uncertainty.

The SET chief said Thailand remains attractive as an emerging market destination, with foreign brokers increasing their allocation toward Thai equities despite recent adjustments in some sectors, including reduced investment weight in AI-related stocks such as DELTA. The SET is also preparing SET Thailand Focus 2026: Reignite Thailand, scheduled for August 26-28, featuring 78 listed companies with a combined market capitalization representing 74% of the Thai stock market, or more than 15 trillion baht.

The event will showcase major listed firms, companies involved in the Jump+ initiative, innovation-driven businesses, technology companies, and high-growth industries in an effort to highlight Thailand’s investment potential and attract international investors. Regarding the recent cyberattack on the Thailand Securities Depository (TSD), Asadej said the SET has conducted extensive system checks and introduced additional monitoring measures for unusual transactions to protect investors’ assets. He confirmed that investors’ asset information was not leaked in the incident and said the exchange continues to strengthen cybersecurity measures while coordinating with securities firms and banks to prevent potential risks and safeguard investor data.
