PATTAYA, Thailand – Children’s Day in Thailand, celebrated on Saturday, January 10, was more than a date on the calendar for the Rotary Club of Dolphin Pattaya International. It was a reminder of purpose, compassion, and a long-standing promise to give back to the community they call home.
The club, founded by the late Dr. Otmar Deter and shaped over the years by a strong core of German members, continues to embody the Rotary spirit of service above self. Despite the passage of time, its commitment has not faded. Instead, it remains deeply active, personal, and quietly impactful.
Under the leadership of President Ilona Landgraf-Strobel, alongside Dr. Margret Deter, the “Dolphins” once again demonstrated that Rotary service is not about visibility, but about presence – being there when support and encouragement matter most.
On this special day dedicated to children, the club donated a total of 80,000 baht to seven schools and kindergartens across Pattaya. The contributions were aimed at supporting basic needs, learning materials, and small improvements that can make a meaningful difference in young lives. For the children, it was a day of smiles and surprises. For the Rotarians, it was a fulfillment of duty carried out with genuine warmth.

Members described the visits as deeply moving – not because of the donations themselves, but because of the gratitude, laughter, and excitement they witnessed. These moments, they say, are what keep the club motivated year after year.
The Rotary Club of Dolphin Pattaya International has long focused on education, child welfare, and local community support, building bridges between cultures while staying firmly rooted in Pattaya. Children’s Day once again highlighted what the club does best: turning goodwill into action, and compassion into something tangible.
As Thailand’s children celebrated their special day, the Dolphins quietly ensured that joy reached classrooms and playgrounds where it was most needed – a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful gestures come not with fanfare, but with open hearts and helping hands.
