Owner “Ben” says small businesses in Pattaya are under pressure as tourist numbers fall during the low season.

PATTAYA, Thailand – As the low season settles over Thailand’s eastern tourism hub, small businesses in Pattaya are turning to creative promotions and value-driven offers to maintain steady customer flow and keep venues active. At “Ben Coffee & Bar” on Soi Paniad Chang (formerly known as Soi Yume), opposite the entrance to Soi 7 in Central Pattaya, owner “Ben” has launched a promotional campaign aimed at attracting both Thai customers and tourists during a period of softer foot traffic.

The venue is offering a VIP membership card priced at 199 baht, giving holders a free hotpot or grilled pork set, a complimentary drink, and a year-long 10% discount on food items. The move is designed to encourage repeat visits while easing the impact of falling seasonal revenue. Speaking to a Pattaya Mail reporter during a relatively busy evening, Ben said the low season has become one of the toughest periods for operators in a city heavily dependent on tourism. “Visitor numbers drop significantly compared to the high season. We have to constantly adjust our strategy just to stay competitive and keep the business alive,” he said. He added that promotions and added-value offers have become essential survival tools for many small venues in Pattaya, as competition intensifies and customer spending slows.

Ben Coffee & Bar operates two seating zones: an outdoor area with a relaxed atmosphere and live music, and an indoor VIP air-conditioned section featuring more upbeat entertainment. The venue transitions from a morning café serving coffee and tea into an evening restaurant and bar, offering a wide range of food and drinks throughout the day. Like many small operators across Pattaya, the business says it is not chasing expansion during this period—only stability. For many in the city’s hospitality sector, the low season is no longer just a slowdown, but a test of endurance, where creativity in promotions often determines whether a business survives or quietly shuts down.
