Pattaya – With several small bombs detonating around Bangkok on Friday, local police have stepped up security in Pattaya, particularly around Bali Hai Pier.

Pol. Lt. Col. Piyapong Eansan led tourist police to inspect the pier over the weekend and make sure everything was in order and there were no suspicious items in the vicinity.

Pattaya police also carried out a sweep of extra patrols at bus terminals and shopping malls to ensure safety for tourists and locals. About 20 officers manned the traffic stop on Sukhumvit Road near Big C South Pattaya following the bombings. Vehicles and motorbikes were searched for weapons and drugs.

The patrols were all completed without incident and no suspicious objects were found.
