Military to pay rice farmers as a priority

BANGKOK, 25 May 2014  – The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has invited representatives of major institutions to consult on the most suitable approach to managing the economy, finance, and banking so as to be properly organized and effective.

After discussions, The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) directed the Ministry of Commerce to fix the rice farmers’ payment problem as a matter of urgency. The problem resulted from the failed subsidy scheme run by the government.

Furthermore, the military will continue to seek answers to the falling price of rice. The G2G rice deal is still operating.
