BANGKOK, 19 July 2013 Kamphaeng Phet is poised to be promoted by the Cabinet as a logistics model for the rest of the country due to its ideal geography for the establishment of a comprehensive transport network linking land, water and air transports.

The Cabinet, at their mobile meeting in Ayutthaya, agreed to promote Kamphaeng Phet as the model of logistics system as the province has the capacity to absorb growth from Bangkok which will contribute to the national economic growth.

At the Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra instructed Minister of Transport Chadchart Sittipunt to set up an ad hoc committee to find ways to ease the crowding condition of Phuket International Airport. The order followed the private sector’s concerns over the capacity of the airport to accommodate the rise in air travelers.

Regarding the human trafficking problem, Ms. Yingluck told Labor Minister Chalerm Yubumrung to quickly enforce the law against human trade and child labor as Thailand still remains on the U.S. watch list.
