A Kamphaeng Phet motorcyclist says his bike broke down after he filled up at a coin-operated fuel dispenser that allegedly delivered cloudy water instead of petrol.

KAMPHAENG PHET, Thailand – A music teacher in Kamphaeng Phet says his motorcycle broke down shortly after he filled it with what he believed was 95-octane petrol from a coin-operated fuel dispenser, only to discover cloudy water in the tank.

Natthaphon, 30, known as “Teacher Blue”, shared his experience on Facebook in a post on the “Kamphaeng Phet Complaints, Tell Us Here” page, warning other motorists about the incident and calling on the dispenser’s owner to take responsibility. He said he was returning home after work when he noticed his fuel was running low and stopped at the dispenser in Mueang district. After travelling only a short distance, his motorcycle stopped running and would not restart.

When he inspected the fuel tank, he found cloudy, whitish water instead of petrol. A passing motorist helped him push the motorcycle home. The following morning, he tested the dispenser again by filling a bottle, but found water coming out once more. He then took his motorcycle to a repair shop and sought compensation for the damage.

The dispenser’s owner expressed regret and apologized to Natthaphon, saying heavy rain was suspected of entering the underground fuel storage tank through the canopy roof. The owner said arrangements would be made for technicians to dismantle and improve the installation to prevent a recurrence. The owner also contacted Natthaphon and agreed to cover the full cost of repairing his motorcycle.
