Pattaya Deputy Mayor Manot Nongyai says public land near the Waterfront building must be returned to the city by October 31 for public use and improvements.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya City has set an October 31 deadline for the removal of boats and other items from public land near the Waterfront building, clearing the way for a public walkway, improved lighting and better facilities for tourists travelling to Koh Larn.

Deputy Mayor Manot Nongyai said the vacant plot, measuring approximately 40 to 50 metres in length, is located in front of the Point Fortune building, next to the Waterfront development.

The land is currently being used to store boats and collect parking fees from tourists heading to Koh Larn. However, no ownership documents have been presented to establish private rights over the area.

Pattaya City has therefore negotiated with those using the land, requesting that they remove their boats and other belongings and return the site for public use by October 31. The city plans to develop the reclaimed area for residents and visitors. The Engineering Office has been instructed to survey the site and prepare designs for a public walkway, along with the installation of street lighting to improve safety.

Pattaya plans to build a public walkway and install lighting on reclaimed land near Bali Hai Pier to improve safety and access for Koh Larn visitors.

Part of the area may also be designated for a container office or tent where municipal enforcement officers and relevant agencies can work and assist members of the public travelling to Koh Larn.

The latest move follows enforcement action involving the Waterfront building, where construction was ordered to stop and the use of the building was prohibited while legal proceedings against the project owner continue. After vehicles were found parked inside the building despite the prohibition, Pattaya City reported the alleged violation to Pattaya Police Station.

Pattaya City has already carried out a survey of the vacant land to establish clear boundaries for its future use. The planned improvements are intended to make the area more accessible and safer for tourists using Bali Hai Pier, a major departure point for Koh Larn.
