More than 71,000 runners have registered for the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok, with organisers expecting over 40,000 accompanying visitors and at least 2.3 billion baht in economic activity.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand has announced its readiness to host the ninth Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2026 on November 28–29, with over 71,000 registered runners and an anticipated economic impact of at least 2.3 billion baht. On October 27, 2026, Minister of Tourism and Sports Surasak Phancharoenworakul, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, and Sports Authority of Thailand Governor Prodpran Samanmit announced event preparations at Toyota Alive Convention Hall in Bangkok.

The event included representatives from the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand, Metropolitan Police Bureau, Thai Media Fund, Thai PBS, the Athletics Association of Thailand, and public and private sectors. Organizers reported 71,435 registered runners, including 62,463 Thai and 8,972 international participants, as well as over 40,000 expected accompanying visitors. The event is projected to generate at least 2.3 billion baht in economic activity through tourism, accommodation, transportation, and related services.

Certified by World Athletics, the event is one of eight prestigious races in the World Capital Marathon Series and serves as the official season finale. The marathon also highlights Bangkok’s recent recognition as “The Best City in the World 2026” in the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards. The marathon also supports TAT’s Year of Transformation strategy, which prioritizes tourism value and revenue over visitor numbers. TAT officials said hosting world-class sports events advances Thailand’s shift from volume-focused tourism to high-value international sports travel and strengthens the nation’s reputation as Asia’s premier sports hub.
