BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Suphajee Suthumpun and Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Supamas Isarabhakdi led the National Public Relations Committee meeting at Government House on September 14, 2026. The meeting focused on establishing an integrated two-way communication system connecting central agencies with all 76 provinces. The meeting was attended by Public Relations Department Director-General Sudruetai Lertkasem, as committee secretary, along with committee members. The Deputy Prime Minister explained that the new approach will shift government communication from one-way information delivery to a system that incorporates public needs, local concerns, and feedback into policy and operations. She emphasized the importance of clear public information, coordinated interagency communication, robust fact-checking, and timely access to accurate information.
In fiscal year 2027, the committee will prioritize crisis communication, misinformation response, workforce development in AI and emerging media technologies, strengthening provincial communication networks, and enhancing coordination between central agencies and local communities. The committee will operate through five subcommittees: national communication policy and planning, international public relations, government information management, personnel development, and provincial public relations. Six experts from media, academia, civil society, culture, and new media will contribute external perspectives.
The meeting approved a review of the 2010 Prime Minister’s Office regulation on national public relations to address changes in government structures, technology, media consumption, and public communication. The committee also prioritized preparations for the royal cremation ceremony of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. Officials were directed to ensure seamless, dignified, and accurate communication across all domestic and international broadcast platforms, media centers, and digital channels to honor Her Majesty appropriately.
