CHIANG MAI, Thailand – A nightlife venue in Chiang Mai’s Chang Moi area was found operating after legal hours, serving alcohol and hosting live music without a license during an inspection early Saturday morning. The operation was ordered by Chiang Mai Governor Ratthaphol Naradisorn and carried out by the Mueang Chiang Mai district special operations team together with Mueang Chiang Mai police following complaints from nearby residents about late-night operations, loud music and intoxicated customers.
Officials entered the venue at about 2:50 a.m. on Sept 12 and found it still open, with live music being performed and alcohol being served to customers. Authorities conducted urine tests on 77 staff members and customers for drugs, with no positive results reported.
The venue’s owner or manager was called in to acknowledge three charges: operating an entertainment venue without a license, selling alcoholic beverages beyond the legally permitted hours, and violating an order prohibiting entertainment venues from operating or selling alcohol beyond permitted hours.
Officials documented the arrest and collected evidence before handing the operator or manager over to investigators at Mueang Chiang Mai Police Station for further legal proceedings. The inspection followed complaints from residents in the Chang Moi area about noise and late-night activity affecting people living nearby.
