NAN, Thailand – Deputy Minister of Interior Jeseth Thaiseth mobilized personnel and heavy equipment in Pua District in Nan Province to accelerate cleanup and recovery operations following the recession of floodwaters. The operation on August 22, 2026, brought together the Department of Public Works and Town and Country Planning (DPT), the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, and local administrative organizations. Trucks and heavy machinery were deployed to remove waste, mud, debris, and damaged items from communities, while water trucks cleaned roads, public areas, and affected homes.

Recovery efforts focused on Sila Laeng and Woranakhon subdistricts. The deputy minister instructed officials to take immediate action wherever possible and to request equipment from nearby agencies or provinces if local resources were insufficient. During the inspection, the Deputy Minister directed all relevant agencies to act promptly to support the public. He emphasized efficient use of available personnel and resources, and coordination with neighboring provinces for additional equipment if needed. He noted that with floodwaters receding, recovery efforts must begin immediately to restore local livelihoods and businesses.

In response to the current situation, DPT Director-General Pongnara Yenying directed provincial offices nationwide to strictly implement the Ministry’s comprehensive disaster management protocols. These preventive and reactive measures require authorities to inspect flood defenses and pumping stations prior to heavy rainfall, deploy machinery and personnel during active floods, and immediately clear debris while assessing structural damages once water levels drop. The Ministry has further urged close collaboration with local administrative bodies to ensure that recovery assistance reaches all affected residents swiftly and thoroughly.

The Deputy Minister reiterated that recovery efforts must start as soon as floodwaters recede. Agencies were instructed to coordinate with local authorities to help residents return home, resume daily activities, and restore their livelihoods as soon as possible. (NNT)
