
PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya City officials moved quickly to remove an unidentified oil slick discovered along Jomtien Beach, with crews cleaning the affected area to protect the beach environment and public safety, August 10. Jomtien municipal officers assisted the Pattaya City Environment Office in collecting the oil residue and cleaning the affected section of beach.
Officials are now investigating the source of the oil to determine where it came from and whether further action is required to prevent another incident and protect the beach and surrounding marine environment. Residents and beachgoers who spot oil, pollution or other environmental problems along Pattaya’s coastline can report them to Pattaya City on 1337.
