NAKHON PATHOM, Thailand – A viral road rage incident in which a man smashed the window of a luxury Mercedes after allegedly becoming angry over a car horn has escalated into a criminal investigation, with potential repair costs reportedly reaching hundreds of thousands of baht. The owner of the damaged vehicle has revealed that it is a Mercedes-AMG C43 4MATIC Coupe Special Edition, a limited-edition model, with this particular color said to be one of only 18 in Thailand. The revelation has fueled online discussion over the likely cost of replacing genuine parts and restoring the vehicle to factory standards.
The incident, captured on video and widely shared on social media on August 3, reportedly began after the suspect became enraged when another driver sounded the horn. He then approached the Mercedes and struck one of its windows. Public reaction has been divided. Some questioned whether sounding the horn escalated the confrontation, while others argued that damaging another person’s property can never be justified regardless of the circumstances. Many commenters noted that a brief moment of anger could result in significant legal and financial consequences.
Police at Phutthamonthon Police Station have since interviewed the Mercedes owner and her boyfriend, who accompanied investigators to reconstruct the incident at the scene. Authorities have issued a summons for the man seen in the viral video to acknowledge criminal charges and are working to identify any other individuals involved. Police said that if the suspect fails to appear as required, they will seek a court-approved arrest warrant. In addition to possible criminal charges, the suspect could also face a substantial civil claim for the cost of repairing the rare luxury vehicle.
