PATTAYA, Thailand – Police have recovered the bodies believed to be those of missing Russian siblings Miss Diana Nazimova, 22, and Mr. Roman Nazimova, 17, after suspects led investigators to a shallow grave in a wooded area of Huay Yai on Friday night. The grim discovery marks a major breakthrough in the high-profile case that began after the brother and sister disappeared with their Honda ADV 150 motorcycle on July 26. Investigators later found the motorcycle dismantled and buried, leading police to intensify the search for suspects.
Earlier on July 31, police arrested Thana “Pong”, 43, and Thongchai “Thong”, 39, in Wang Sombun district, Sa Kaeo province, following a five-day manhunt. During questioning, Pong allegedly confessed to shooting Roman and fatally assaulting Diana, claiming the pair resisted an attempt to steal their motorcycle. Police stressed that the investigation remains ongoing and all evidence, including the suspects’ statements, will be verified.
At approximately 9:40 p.m., investigators escorted Pong to a forested area in Chak Ngaew, east Pattaya, where he pointed out the alleged burial site. Officers noticed what appeared to be a recently disturbed area covered with straw beneath a tree. As they dug deeper, a strong odor began to emerge from the ground.
At around 10:30 p.m., after excavating to a depth of about one meter, police recovered the bodies of a man and a woman believed to be Roman and Diana Nazimova. The remains will undergo forensic examination to formally confirm their identities and determine the precise causes of death. Following the recovery, both suspects were taken back to Huay Yai Police Station for further questioning as investigators continue expanding the case.
