CHONBURI, Thailand – Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi province will offer free admission to children and senior citizens on July 28, 2026. The event coincides with the unveiling of a new exhibit featuring “Nong Nueng,” an eight-year-old female clouded leopard, allowing visitors to observe the rare species closely. Zoo Director Narongwit Chodchoy stated that the clouded leopard is a protected species known for its unique cloud-like coat patterns and tree-climbing abilities. As a predator, it plays a vital role in maintaining the ecological balance of Asian forests. The new exhibit, located in the zoo’s botanical garden, promotes wildlife education, raises public awareness about biodiversity, and provides an optimal environment for observing endangered animals.
The director emphasized the zoo’s commitment to serving as a comprehensive learning center for all ages. The facility prioritizes conservation, research, and breeding of rare wildlife to foster a culture of sustainable environmental stewardship among the public. On July 28, children under 12 or under 135 centimeters tall, and adults aged 60 and above, can enter the zoo free of charge. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in full-day activities, engage with animal mascots, and experience the Night Zoo, which offers a unique educational view of nocturnal wildlife behavior.
