PATTAYA, Thailand – A 25-year-old woman from Khon Kaen province was seriously injured after falling from a viewpoint at Khao Phra Yai (Big Buddha Hill) in Pattaya on July 26. Pattaya rescue officials received a report at around 2:06 p.m. and rushed to the popular tourist attraction on Khao Phra Tamnak. The woman, identified as Ms. Nuntiyaporn, was found around 10 meters below the viewpoint. Rescue workers provided initial medical assistance before urgently transporting her to hospital.
A witness, Ms. Wasulita, 34, said she was visiting the area with her family when she saw the woman standing near the edge of the viewpoint before climbing over the barrier and falling. Another witness told officials that earlier in the morning she had noticed the same woman sitting alone and appearing distressed before lying down. Later, when reports came of a person falling from the viewpoint, she realized it was the same individual. Authorities said the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. Police will speak with the injured woman once her condition improves to determine what led to the fall.
