KANCHANABURI, Thailand – Deputy Education Minister Akaranun Khankittinan joined students in a Realm of Valor (ROV) exhibition match during the NPRU E-Sport Secondary School Cup 2026, saying education policymakers should better understand young people by engaging with their interests and everyday experiences. The event, held at Thepmongkhonrangsi School in Kanchanaburi on July 25, featured 33 secondary school teams competing in the ROV tournament while offering training for aspiring esports players and digital content creators. Akaranun used the exhibition match to interact with students and hear their views, noting that education leaders should adapt to the changing world of younger generations rather than expect students to adapt to them.
Listening to students is essential to developing policies that better prepare them for the future. The deputy minister also called for greater support for Thailand’s esports sector, noting that talented young players need more opportunities and resources to develop their skills and compete at higher levels. Akaranun proposed making Kanchanaburi a regional model for esports development before expanding the approach nationwide, tasking the Education Ministry with continuing to create more opportunities for students through esports and other creative learning activities.
