Thailand Tourist Police increase checks to protect international visitors

Tourist Police Deputy Chief Pol. Maj. Gen. Phongsiam Meekhanthong inspected Suvarnabhumi Airport security operations, focusing on tourist safety, assistance services, and visitor confidence.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Tourist Police have stepped up security measures at Suvarnabhumi Airport as part of efforts to improve safety and strengthen confidence among domestic and international travelers. On July 17, Pol. Maj. Gen. Phongsiam Meekhanthong, Deputy Commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau, inspected operations and oversaw a deployment of tourist police officers at the airport’s Passenger Terminal. The operation was carried out in line with government and Ministry of Tourism and Sports policies to enhance tourist safety and provide assistance throughout the travel process.

During the visit, Pol. Maj. Gen. Phongsayam instructed officers to improve security measures and ensure convenient services for visitors arriving and departing through Suvarnabhumi Airport.



Tourist Police officers, working alongside Suvarnabhumi Airport officials, airport military officers, Suvarnabhumi Airport Police Station officers, and K9 units, conducted inspections throughout the passenger terminal. The checks covered international baggage claim areas, assistance for tourists, K9 security screening, inbound and outbound tour operator inspections, public taxi organization, and passenger pick-up arrangements. Officers also distributed information about tourist assistance channels, including the Thailand Tourist Police Application and the Tourist Police hotline 1155, to passengers and tour groups. Authorities said the measures are aimed at creating a safer travel environment and ensuring visitors receive support throughout their stay in Thailand.
