BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) and the British Embassy Bangkok have organized the “Thailand–UK Voices of Impact: Inspiring Women in STEM” conference in Bangkok to expand cooperation in higher education, science, research, and innovation while encouraging greater participation by women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Deputy Prime Minister and MHESI Minister Prof. Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat said the administration considers research and innovation key drivers of economic and social development. Thailand is expanding opportunities for women and young people in STEM while promoting research, technology transfer, entrepreneurship, and the practical application of research.
Speakers from Thailand and the United Kingdom examined ways to turn research into public policy, new technologies, commercial products, and improved public services. They also discussed research commercialization, cooperation between universities and industry, and the United Kingdom’s Knowledge Transfer Partnership model as a potential framework for Thailand. Participants also examined standards, testing, and technology certification to support innovation and expand access to international markets. The conference concluded with a workshop on maximizing the economic and social impact of research, with organizers saying the event would help advance Thailand-United Kingdom cooperation in research, innovation, and STEM education.
