Man arrested after alleged hidden camera attempt in market toilet in Pattaya

Police and locals detain a suspect in east Pattaya after an alleged hidden camera attempt inside a market restroom.

PATTAYA, Thailand – A man was detained by local residents after allegedly attempting to secretly film a woman inside a public toilet at a market in Nong Ket Yai Temple area, Nong Pla Lai subdistrict, East Pattaya on June 26. Police from Banglamung Police Station were alerted at around 6 p.m. and rushed to the scene, where a crowd had already restrained the suspect before officers arrived.



The victim, 29-year-old vendor Ms. Nattaya Suksingchai, told police she was using the toilet when she noticed a mobile phone being extended over the partition from an adjacent stall. Startled, she shouted and immediately ran out to seek help. Local residents quickly surrounded the area and managed to detain the suspect after he exited the restroom. Officers later inspected the phone but initially found no video footage, with suspicion that any files may have been deleted before he was apprehended.


The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Saifa Inchaemchoi, initially denied wrongdoing, claiming he was only using the restroom. However, after further questioning, he allegedly admitted that he had attempted to record video but did not press record as the victim noticed the phone first and he quickly pulled it back. Witnesses said the man had been loitering near the restroom area for nearly an hour prior to the incident, drawing suspicion from locals. He was eventually restrained after the victim called for help, prompting residents to intervene. Police are continuing legal proceedings and further investigation into the case.
