BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s top university just jumped 25 spots in the world rankings. And it’s not slowing down. Chulalongkorn University has climbed to 19th place globally in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, up from 44th last year. It’s the only Thai university in the Top 20 worldwide, Top 10 in Asia, and Top 5 in ASEAN — and holds the No. 1 spot in Thailand for the second year running. It also topped Thai universities in seven United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, from clean water and energy to decent work, sustainable cities, and life on land. It even ranked No. 1 across ASEAN in Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. And Thailand didn’t stop there. Six more Thai universities cracked the global Top 100: Thammasat (46th), Walailak (47th), Chiang Mai (49th), Mahidol (56th), Prince of Songkla (81st), and Khon Kaen (91st).
Thailand is showing the world what sustainable education looks like.
