KHON KAEN, Thailand – A DJ in Khon Kaen has filed a police complaint after allegedly being slapped several times by an intoxicated customer who became angry when his request for a birthday song was not immediately played. The incident occurred in the early hours of June 13 at a nightlife venue in Khon Kaen and has since drawn widespread attention after the victim shared CCTV footage and details of the encounter on social media. According to the DJ, identified on Facebook as Pattara Kajohnnapapong, he had begun his set at approximately 1:30 a.m. and had been performing for only a few minutes when an unknown man entered the DJ booth and confronted him.
The DJ alleged that the man demanded that he play a birthday song for members of his group and became increasingly aggressive when the request was not fulfilled immediately. In a social media post, the DJ claimed the man shouted, “I told you to play Happy Birthday. Don’t you understand? Do you know who I am?” before repeatedly slapping him on the head. The victim said the man approached him from behind, making it difficult to react. During the confrontation, his cap was reportedly knocked off or removed and thrown aside before another slap followed.
The DJ stressed that the venue itself was not responsible for the incident, describing it as a chaotic situation that unfolded quickly while staff members and friends attempted to intervene. CCTV footage from inside the venue reportedly shows security guards escorting the man out of the establishment. The footage also captured a venue representative apologizing to the customer and attempting to calm the situation. However, the man allegedly remained angry and repeatedly demanded to speak with the owner while again asking, “Do you know who I am?” Witnesses eventually persuaded him to leave the premises.
According to local reports, the DJ later filed a complaint with Muang Khon Kaen Police Station. Investigators reportedly instructed him to undergo a medical examination and submit the results as part of the case file. Reports further identified the suspect as a member of the Committee for Monitoring and Reviewing Police Administration, commonly known as the Police Oversight Committee, attached to Muang Khon Kaen Police Station. The man is also reportedly a local businessman known by the nickname “Hia Mor.” Police are expected to summon the suspect for questioning once the medical examination results have been received and reviewed as part of the investigation.
