BANGKOK, Thailand – Minister of Tourism and Sports Surasak Phancharoenworakul has reaffirmed that Thailand remains a safe destination and is ready to warmly welcome travelers from around the world. The Minister o addressed recent media reports concerning a travel advisory issued by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for certain citizen groups. He said Thailand remains confident in its readiness to receive international visitors and emphasized that Russian tourists are valued friends and an important quality market for the Thai tourism industry.
In 2025, nearly 1.9 million Russian tourists visited Thailand. During the first five and a half months of 2026, more than 979,000 Russian visitors traveled to Thailand, generating 58 billion baht in tourism revenue. The minister said there are currently no signs of impact on the overall tourism sector, including flights or accommodation bookings. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports is working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), and the private sector to monitor the situation and provide accurate and verified information. The ministry is also continuing to strengthen safety measures and facilitate assistance for tourists around the clock through the Tourist Police Hotline at 1155.
