Businesses are looking to the upcoming “Thais Help Thais Plus” 60/40 scheme via the Paotang, set to begin June 1, as a key driver to boost consumer spending and stimulate local economic activity nationwide.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Periswiwattana announced the government is prepared to officially launch the Thais Help Thais Plus (60/40) economic stimulus scheme to reduce living expenses, stimulate grassroots economic activity, and support small businesses nationwide. The spokesperson said that eligible participants can begin using the program through the Paotang application starting at 6 a.m. on June 1. Users can access the program by selecting the project banner within the application and checking their available benefits.

Users access the program by selecting the project banner in the application and checking their benefits. To make purchases, participants must top up their G-Wallet account. Merchants generate a QR code through the “Thung Ngern” application, allowing customers to scan and pay via the Pao Tang app. The system automatically calculates the government subsidy before users confirm the transaction with a six-digit PIN. Under the program, the government will cover 60 percent of eligible purchases, while participants will pay the remaining 40 percent. For example, for a purchase worth 100 baht, the government will contribute 60 baht and the participant will pay 40 baht. Government support is capped at 200 baht per day and 1,000 baht per month.

The program will run from June 1 to September 30. Monthly benefits cannot be carried over to subsequent months, as unused balances will expire at the end of each month. The government said the initiative is designed to be accessible, easy to use, and effective in easing household expenses while increasing spending and economic circulation at the community level nationwide.
