
BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul met with Remco Johannes van Wijngaarden, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Thailand, on May 29, during the ambassador’s farewell visit, which marked the end of his diplomatic mission. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the close relationship between Thailand and the Netherlands and expressed appreciation for the Dutch government’s support for the “CHUD THAI: Knowledge, Craftsmanship and Practices of the Thai National Costume” exhibition in The Hague, which demonstrated the strong friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries.
Ambassador van Wijngaarden noted the strong cooperation between Thailand and the Netherlands, particularly in economic development. He emphasized the significant role of Dutch investors in Thailand’s semiconductor, microchip, advanced technology, and logistics sectors. He also commended Thailand’s infrastructure, political stability, and investment potential, and expressed hope for further collaboration in emerging industries.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to achieving results through investment, job creation, and enhanced quality of life. He welcomed additional investment from the Netherlands and the European Union, and noted that the Board of Investment (BOI) continues to support targeted industries. The Prime Minister also highlighted ongoing regulatory reforms to align Thailand’s standards with those of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
