While a majority backs the Land Bridge project, new polling shows many Thais still lack a clear understanding, prompting the government to step up public outreach and address concerns over impact and feasibility.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The government has acknowledged recent polling on the proposed Land Bridge project, pointing to the need for clearer public communication and continued engagement with communities. The findings come from a recent NIDA Poll survey on public opinion in southern Thailand.

Among 1,333 respondents who were aware of the project, 67.22% expressed support, including 34.21% who strongly agreed and 33.01% who somewhat agreed, while 32.78% opposed it. Another result showed that 54.53% of respondents had heard of the project but had only a limited understanding, indicating gaps in awareness.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhanadirek said the prime minister has directed relevant agencies to expand communication efforts and improve public understanding, while keeping channels open for feedback from all sectors. The Land Bridge is being considered as a major infrastructure project tied to logistics development, job creation, and investment.

According to Rachada, the government will continue reviewing key concerns, including economic value, investment feasibility, and potential environmental and community impacts. Authorities are working to ensure that further steps are supported by clear information and public input as the project moves forward. (NNT)
