The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for thunderstorms, strong winds, and isolated hail from April 28 to May 1, affecting northern, northeastern, eastern, and central Thailand, urging residents and farmers to take safety precautions amid rapidly changing weather conditions.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for upper Thailand about a new wave of summer storms expected from April 28 to May 1, advising residents to prepare for thunderstorms, strong winds, and isolated hailstorms.

This weather pattern is caused by a high-pressure system from China moving into the South China Sea and the Northeast, colliding with the extreme heat over Thailand.

The storms will initially impact the Northeast, North, and East before spreading to the Central region, including Bangkok and nearby areas. Due to the risk of lightning strikes and falling debris, the public is advised to stay indoors and avoid open fields, tall trees, and unstable billboards.

Farmers are urged to reinforce fruit tree structures and provide shelter for livestock to prevent damage from hail and heavy rain. The department also emphasizes the importance of maintaining health during this period of rapid weather changes. (NNT)
