PATTAYA, Thailand – A late-night crash near the motorway exit in Pattaya left a driver injured after his BMW lost control and slammed into a large roadside billboard.
The incident occurred around 12:20 AM on April 1 at an intersection near the Pattaya motorway exit on Sukhumvit Road. Police from Pattaya City Police Station responded alongside rescue volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation.
At the scene, a black BMW sedan was found mounted on the central median after crashing into a large advertising sign, with the front of the vehicle severely damaged and debris scattered across the road. Authorities also reported finding an opened beer bottle inside the vehicle, which has been noted as part of the ongoing investigation.
The driver, identified as 41-year-old Surawut, sustained minor injuries and received first aid from rescue workers. However, before being transported by emergency services, a friend arrived and took him to hospital privately.
A witness, 19-year-old delivery worker Pattamaporn, told police she saw the car speeding down from the motorway before losing control and crashing into the median and billboard.
She noted that traffic lights at the intersection were about to turn green for waiting vehicles, warning that if the car had arrived moments later, it could have collided with cars stopped at the lights.
