PATTAYA, Thailand – Thailand’s Thai Meteorological Department has warned that summer storms will affect large parts of upper Thailand through February 25, urging residents and visitors in Pattaya and the eastern region to remain cautious as unstable weather conditions spread.

The warning follows severe summer storms that hit several districts of Nakhon Ratchasima province, where thunderstorms and strong winds damaged vendor tents and caused disruption in multiple communities. In some areas, heavy rain combined with gusty winds and hail forced vendors to scramble to secure their stalls as tents were nearly blown away.

According to the Meteorological Department, the summer storm system began in the Northeast and is expected to expand across the North, Central Plains, and parts of the East. The storms are forecast to bring thunderstorms, strong winds, heavy downpours, and isolated hail in some locations.

While Pattaya has not yet been directly affected, authorities advise residents, tourists, and beach operators to monitor weather updates closely. Sudden squalls, rough seas, and lightning may occur, particularly in the late afternoon and evening.

Officials recommend avoiding open areas during thunderstorms, securing outdoor structures, and exercising caution when traveling or engaging in marine activities. Further updates will be issued if weather conditions intensify.
