BANGKOK, Thailand – The Election Commission of Thailand reported that advance voting for the House of Representatives election on February 1, 2026, proceeded smoothly nationwide.
EC Secretary-General Sawaeng Boonmee stated that both in-constituency and out-of-constituency advance voting were conducted in an orderly manner after polling stations opened at 8:00 a.m. There were 8,610 registered in-constituency advance voters, 2,206,138 out-of-constituency voters, and 1,666 voters with disabilities or elderly voters. Polling facilities included 521 in-constituency stations, 524 out-of-constituency stations, and 22 stations for voters with disabilities or elderly voters.
Areas with high registration, such as Bang Kapi, Chatuchak, and Chiang Mai, each with over 50,000 registered voters, managed voter flow effectively. In Bang Khen, where about 19,000 voters are registered, traffic congestion occurred earlier in the day. Polling officials and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration traffic police coordinated to improve access to polling stations.
In the provinces, minor issues were reported and promptly resolved. In Chon Buri, a campaign sign was reported missing near a polling station. In Lampang, an incorrect candidate number was initially displayed due to a duplication error. Both cases were corrected without further incident. The EC reminded voters not to express opinions about their voting choices after casting ballots, as this could lead to complaints and disrupt the orderly conduct of the election. (NNT)
