PATTAYA, Thailand – More than 2,000 runners and supporters gathered early Sunday morning (Feb 1) to take part in the 4th Koh Larn Trail Run 2026, a challenging island race held on Koh Larn, Pattaya, with the competition getting underway at 6:00 a.m. at Samae Beach.
The event was officially opened by Chonburi Governor Narit Niramaiwong, accompanied by Bang Lamung District Chief Anusak Phiriyom, Pattaya Deputy Mayors Manot Nongyai, Damrongkiat Pinijkan, and Kritsana Boonsawat, along with Pol. Col. Anek Srathongyu, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, Pattaya City executives, and representatives from relevant agencies. Runners and spectators joined the opening ceremony before heading out onto the course in a lively and energetic atmosphere.
The Koh Larn Trail Run is jointly organized by Pattaya City, the Pattaya City Running Association, and the Koh Larn community, with routes circling the island and both the start and finish lines located at Samae Beach. The race is designed to promote sports tourism, enhance Pattaya and Chonburi’s image as a Sports City, and support sustainable tourism while generating long-term economic benefits for the local community.
This year’s event featured two race distances, 12 kilometers and 28 kilometers, each divided into multiple age-group categories. The island’s steep hills, coastal paths, and natural terrain once again tested the endurance of runners, while the enthusiastic crowd created a festive atmosphere throughout the morning.
Organizers said the strong participation reflects the growing popularity of sports tourism in Pattaya and highlights Koh Larn’s potential as a venue for high-quality sporting events.
