BANGKOK, Thailand – The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), under the Ministry of Interior, issued an update regarding the disbursement of flood relief assistance to households affected in southern Thailand.
As of 14 December 2025, DDPM has disbursed financial assistance to over 1.46 million households affected by flooding during the 2025 rainy season. Each eligible household receives 9,000 baht, with assistance provided across four categories: flooding lasting no more than seven days, flooding exceeding seven days, homes surrounded by floodwaters that prevent normal living for more than seven days, and high-rise buildings where floodwaters did not reach residential floors but caused disruption for more than seven days.
In collaboration with the Government Savings Bank, the DDPM has completed 12 rounds of fund transfers across nine southern provinces: Songkhla, Trang, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat, Pattani, Phatthalung, Yala, Satun, and Surat Thani. Assistance has reached 1,463,476 households, totaling approximately 13.17 billion baht.
Transfers to 17,502 households remain unsuccessful due to incomplete bank account information. Authorities are expediting data corrections to ensure that all eligible households receive assistance promptly.
Additional transfers were scheduled for 14 December, covering 35,014 households in Nakhon Si Thammarat and 12,671 households in Yala. The DDPM urges affected residents who have not yet linked their PromptPay accounts with their national identification numbers to contact local banks promptly.
The Government reaffirmed its commitment to providing ongoing assistance to alleviate hardship and support recovery efforts in affected communities. (NNT)
