Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul reviews emergency-response drills and calls for community-level readiness to support Thailand–Cambodia border security in Ban Kruat district.

BURI RAM, Thailand – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has visited Ban Kruat district in Buri Ram province to issue new security directives for the Thailand–Cambodia border. Speaking before more than 2,500 participants, including governors from seven provinces and village defense volunteers, the premier outlined the rear-area protection plan and called for full readiness to respond to emergencies and cross-border threats.

Anutin stressed that the plan must be understood and executable at the community level, not remain only on paper. This covers scenarios such as armed incidents, natural disasters, and threats to public safety. The prime minister highlighted the key roles of village defense volunteers, territorial defense volunteers, and local officials in supporting frontline military operations and maintaining order.

During a live demonstration, emergency teams showcased coordinated procedures including surveillance, early warning, evacuation, and local patrols. These activities are structured across four levels: frontline defense, support zones, village-level responders, and public shelters.

The prime minister concluded the trip by citing a royal guideline: while Thailand seeks peace, it must be prepared for any situation. He reiterated the need for seamless coordination across all agencies and communities to ensure public safety and national security. (NNT)
