SONGKHLA, Thailand – The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) announced that flood-affected households in Songkhla will receive 9,000 baht each, with applications accepted even without government-issued documents. Officials said the streamlined process is intended to accelerate financial relief in what has become one of the province’s most severe flood emergencies. Local authorities have been instructed to verify identities and damage using civil registration data, on-site checks, and community-level confirmation.

DDPM Director-General Teerapat Kachamat said extensive flooding across all 16 districts—especially in Hat Yai—requires rapid assistance. Households whose primary residences were inundated and who meet eligibility criteria will qualify for payments. Teerapat said procedures must be simplified to match the scale of the crisis and reduce burdens on residents.

Affected individuals may apply online or in person at their local administrative organization. No ID copies, house registration documents, or official certificates are required. Verification may rely on civil records, visual confirmation of flood impacts, and input from village headmen and community leaders, including cases in which residents are not listed in local registries.

After verification, local administrative organizations will submit household lists to district and provincial disaster committees before they are sent to the DDPM. Approved cases will be forwarded to the Government Savings Bank, which will transfer compensation directly to PromptPay accounts.

As of December 1, Songkhla has submitted its first batch of data, and payments have already been issued to 4,563 households. Additional applications remain under review, and the DDPM has instructed all agencies to accelerate processing to ensure remaining payments are transferred without delay. (NNT)
