BANGKOK, Thailand – An 83-year-old man was severely bitten in the face and arms by his beloved pedigree dog, prompting rescue authorities to rush him to Bang Bua Thong Hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred at a townhouse in a local village in Bang Bua Thong Subdistrict, Bang Bua Thong District, Nonthaburi Province. The homeowner kept several dogs, one of which attacked the elderly man. The victim, Mr. Thong, sustained multiple injuries, including wounds under his left eye, on the right elbow, and the left thumb. Rescue officers provided first aid at the scene before transporting him to the hospital.

On-site reports indicated that the townhouse complex consists of two connected houses with a rear passage. The household keeps six dogs, some roaming outside and others inside the house. A large bloodstain was found in front of the house, along with scattered dog food bowls. The dog responsible for the attack, a male pedigree dog named “Jao Mor,” aged 6–7 years, was tied up outside the house, with bloodstains visible on its mouth and body.

Mrs. Suwanna, 87, the victim’s sister, said her brother lived with her, her husband, and one grandson. At the time of the incident, he was alone at home feeding the dogs. Around the afternoon, she heard what sounded like a dog fight followed by cries for help, realizing her brother had been bitten.

“Jao Mor” is described as the most aggressive of the six dogs, despite being raised from a puppy. Mrs. Suwanna said she has always loved and cared for him, but this attack was the worst so far. She hopes authorities can take the dog into care, fearing it might not be properly managed or harmed if left with strangers, but she still has affection for it.

A 63-year-old neighbor explained that she often visited to bring food, but the dog would bark aggressively, especially “Jao Mor.” On the day of the incident, Mr. Thong fed the dogs earlier than usual, about 2–3 hours ahead, and moved one dog’s bowl to another dog, possibly irritating “Jao Mor.” The dog reportedly felt slighted or jealous and attacked, biting the man’s face and arm severely, causing continuous bleeding.
