BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has presided over a press conference announcing the results of a nationwide crackdown that has seized more than 18 million methamphetamine pills and taken down several major narcotics networks.

The event was held at the Narcotics Suppression Bureau Headquarters and was attended by Justice Minister Pol. Lt. Gen. Rutthaphon Naowarat, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Interior Ansit Samphantharat, National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Kitrat Panphet, senior police, and officials from the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB).

According to Government spokesman Siripong Angkasakulkiat, the Prime Minister highlighted the operation as evidence of the government’s unwavering commitment to tackling the drug crisis, which he described as a grave threat to Thailand’s youth, families, and national stability. Anutin emphasized that since his two-year tenure as Interior Minister, the government has worked closely with the Royal Thai Police and related agencies to combat the narcotics trade with full force — resulting in significant arrests, prosecutions, and large-scale drug seizures.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the officers for their dedication, courage, and sacrifice in protecting the country from this grave threat, and wished for every officer to carry out their mission safely and successfully. After the briefing, the Prime Minister personally inspected the confiscated narcotics and reviewed the summary boards detailing the outcomes of the 2025 fiscal-year anti-drug operations.

Under the Prime Minister’s directive, the anti-drug campaign between September and October 2025 dismantled nine major networks, arrested 16 suspects, and confiscated 18.25 million methamphetamine pills, 1,488 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (ice), and 29 kilograms of ketamine. The operation reflects decisive action in intercepting drug routes from border regions to the capital. (NNT)
